When a famous person dies — say a writer, filmmaker, or musician — the first place I usually find out about it is on Instagram. Not necessarily from news accounts I follow announcing it, but from regular people, all of a sudden, starting to post quotes or clips from that person.
These days, I’m not on Instagram, so if some kind of famous person passes away, I usually don’t find out right away. But earlier this morning, I logged on Letterboxd and saw that two people I follow who don’t know each other had logged Annie Hall, and the first thing I thought of was — Did Woody Allen die?
But it became clear when someone else logged Baby Boom.
Rest in Peace, Diane Keaton.
